Are those intakes.... brass pots?

My biggest beef with rat rods is that they seem to be a largely derivative art. Like how stance can sometimes be a pantomime on race-car camber and the practical styles of drift and VIP culture, modern day 'rat rods' seem to be a pantomime on cheap performance and customization from a time period way past.

I don't mean to just state the obvious, but if there isn't the legitimacy (for example, any rat rod that cost ~100,000 or more in custom fabrication) of hard work and a need for danger, then it's just not the same.

This car looks very dangerous. It looks fast too, for its size and age. But most of all, dangerous. It's a badass car.

I love the "have you had your tetabus shots?" aspect of cars like this, and not just because of the pervasive patina - whether you scratch yourself on the doorframe or bring too much heat into a corner, it's a red-neck's take on steampunk. I think that what I'm understanding about it now.

"Redneck steampunk" is quite possibly the best description I've ever heard for the modern rat-rod. It's like a Nixie clock for the road!
